Baby Showers

This shower luncheon was for a baby who’s gender was a surprise so green was the predominant color, accented with touches of pink and blue.  The watermelon “baby buggy” is on a platter painted with fruits, with pink & blue candy in green polka dot dishes

The table highlight is the personalized painted pail, full of “flowers” created with baby items and set on a painted floor cloth used as a table runner. The painted white floral tiers hold gourmet bites.

This was an informal afternoon shower with “baby bite” cakes set out on the bar with candy and nuts, a special painted glass for Mom and specially made “cupcakes” on a white floral tier

Nothing painted here but was so cute it had to be included!  These “pink piggies” [pigs in a blanket]

were perfect for this baby girl dinner buffet.  The hostess did use JMdesigns painted tropical, beachy

pieces for serving some of the other food at her

coastal home.  It is easy to incorporate pieces you already have to your party theme.  Add a colored ribbon or napkin, or surround with theme related accents.  Always, always use lots of fresh flowers!

“Mr. McGregor’s Garden” the time honored child’s tale of a mischievous bunny , is the theme for this Baby Brunch, all whites and green, with flowers, pots of herbs and real fruits and veggies scattered down the table.  The baby “wreath” in Mom’s head chair is crafted out of natural diapers and a large white paper star in the corner to honor the star of the event, the new baby of course!

[the star was recycled from a summer celebration, & old Beatrix Potter baby china from childhood]

Tropical Evening cocktail buffet

This dramatic table was created

with a vinyl picnic cloth, casually draped in the center and colorful beach towels.  Under the cloths

were boxes to create the different

elevations for the brightly painted

dishes to hold the food.  Fresh pineapples, bananas, citrus, and tropical flowers complete the look.

Throw in some paper umbrellas

for a festive touch and check out the

palm tree candle

red & black balloons, paper suit cut outs, oversize die hanging everywhere, Cheesy but effective!

Rented poker, roulette, and black jack tables insured an evening of fun and games.

The dining table was ready to hold platters of food

and was decorated with vases full of paper money

cards, dice, red glass hearts [think of valentine

stuff you might have] and confetti theme sprinkles.

Green felt topper made it look like a game table.

This party was also a 50th birthday

celebration, the island decorated with

a plate honoring the birthday girl, red

roses in a vase of cards, money, &

poker chips.

The bar held a painted beverage tub

ready for ice and drinks to surround the center vase of limes.  Think of new ways to put old things together.

This party was in early Oct. so

white pumpkins were a perfect

compliment to purple & green balloons, hydrangeas in wine

buckets for the wine cellar decor.  Food was presented on painted dishes and boards.

While some dread decorating, its fun to make it a little different every year, changing the way favorites are used to make it seem brand new and exciting for family and guests.  Look closely at the set table

below and see how the same items are used in different ways to create different looks....
